While playing Charades with the family this holiday I picked 'The Kite Runner'. Acting out flying a kite got a few laughs at my expense but it did make me realise we don't have any kites at RainbowLife ..... "We need kites!"

So, here we go, we are ready for windy days. Here in the UK we are pretty good at those.

Blow away 2021 and fly into 2022, dragon-style.

Thinking of windy days on a January beach, be it Scarborough, Portobello or Camber Sands, let's go fly. No beach nearby? No worries, these kites work equally well in a windy park or up a hill. All you need is the spirit to take off and fly.

These kites are a bit special, being hand painted by Balinese artisans.

The bright vibrant colours make this kite 'stand out' from the crowd, or should I say 'fly higher'? Be prepared to get noticed. Don't forget to tell your fellow kite flyers about RainbowLife.

Kite making and flying in Bali has a long history and often has spiritual connections. At annual festivals, villages will make giant kites and compete with them.

Oh and, if you haven't yet read 'The Kite Runner', we thoroughly recommend.

Dimensions: Approx 128cm × 180cm

Hand painted

Please note, as these are hand painted products colours will vary.

Fair Trade

This kite comes with a wooden handle and twine.

Siesta Crafts was started in 1983 by Chris and Les Harper with a market stall selling handicrafts that were brought back from their travels from Mexico and Guatemala (hence the name!).

They now import directly from suppliers in countries all over the world on a Fair Trade basis and they are proud to be a member of the British Association for Fair Trade Shops and Suppliers.

They specialise in unusual and interesting gifts. In this day and age of anodyne, cloned town high streets, it is good to see they have a vibrant, colourful presence with a wide range of unique and colourful handcrafted and fair trade items.

Their intention is that by trading with their producers they are helping them to achieve economic self-sufficiency, whilst simultaneously bringing to their customers the skills and crafts of other cultures.
