Description

You take the time to buy the green beans and carefully roast them to your personal version of perfection in your home bean roaster. The aroma of roasting coffee makes you feel heady and alive as you wait with eager anticipation for them to cool enough to scoop exactly the correct number of beans into your burr grinder (no blades...please!).

The setting is where it is after dozens of test runs to achieve the ideal particle size. You know just how important that is in the process. Now it is time to load the still warm grinds into the portafilter and carefully tamp it down. About 30lbs of pressure is just right - a firm press with your weighted tamper.

Lock the portafilter in place. Your water is heated to a perfect 96 deg celcius and pressure is spot on 9 bar. Good to go. You start to salivate. The deep black/brown slightly viscous liquid heaven flows gracefully from the edge of the flume. A thick crema is starting to form in the best espresso cup money can buy.......oh WAIT!
