Why RainbowLife is Part of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation Community
At RainbowLife, we believe that beautiful goods should also be good—for people, the planet and our shared future. That’s why we connect with organisations whose values reflect our own.
One such organisation is the Ellen MacArthur Foundation (EMF). In this blog, I want to share why we are part of the EMF community, what they do, and how this relationship helps make RainbowLife’s mission stronger.
Who is the Ellen MacArthur Foundation?
The Ellen MacArthur Foundation is a charity dedicated to accelerating the global transition to a circular economy. Their mission can be summed up in three principles:
- eliminate waste and pollution
- circulate products and materials
- regenerate nature.
Rather than the old “take → make → dispose” model, EMF promotes a way of designing and living where materials are kept in use for as long as possible, and natural systems are restored. It’s a vision that resonates deeply with RainbowLife.
Why we’re part of this community
Being part of the EMF community allows us to:
- Learn and improve — EMF offers research, case studies, and practical frameworks that help us evaluate our own practices, from sourcing materials to packaging and shipping.
- Connect and share — the community links like-minded businesses, designers, and changemakers. We learn from others while sharing our own experiences of building a fair, sustainable, zero-waste supply chain.
- Stay accountable — aligning with EMF shows our customers that our commitment to sustainability is not just words, but tied to global standards and systemic change.
What this looks like at RainbowLife
For us, being part of the EMF community isn’t theoretical—it’s practical. We have a growing collection of products made specifically from waste materials that would otherwise end up in landfill.
- Explore our Upcycled & Recycled collection
— from fashion to homeware, each piece is crafted from materials given a new lease of life. - Browse our Zero Waste collection
— everyday essentials designed to help reduce unnecessary waste in your own life.
These categories are living proof of circular economy thinking in action. Every item demonstrates that waste doesn’t need to exist—it can be transformed into something both useful and beautiful.
Why this matters
We’re facing urgent challenges—climate change, biodiversity loss, plastic pollution. By joining the EMF community, RainbowLife connects with a global movement that is rethinking systems, not just products.
For us, sustainability is not a “nice-to-have”; it’s at the core of who we are and why we exist.
How you can join in
- Support brands (like RainbowLife) that align with circular economy principles and keep waste out of landfill and design for reuse.
- Ask questions about the products you buy: How was it made? What happens at the end of its life?
- Make small shifts—repair, reuse, refill, recycle—because every change ripples outward.
In closing
Being part of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation community reminds us daily that we’re not alone in this journey. Together with thousands of others, we’re working towards a future where waste is designed out, resources circulate, and nature thrives.
And every time you choose from our Upcycled/Recycled or Zero Waste collections, you’re part of that story too. 🌍✨
